Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariela Torres. The name came after seeing this quote, “CHIC – creating happiness inspiring confidence” She thought “That’s the sort of movement I’d like to create.” Killem With Chic was brought to life in her hometown of San Diego after a ten-year long relationship ended, quitting her corporate job as a lease manger inside Bloomingdales, and the passing of her mother. She was presented with many challenges, which ultimately inspired her to follow her dream.
Killem With Chic started off as a tee shirt line, founded by Mariela and in the past year has expanded into being a space for women to learn, develop and become the best version of themselves.
Style and originality are what defines her from head to toe every day and drives this young entrepreneur to produce a uniquely witty twist on tees, write for the Le Chic Blog, host the I Don’t Give A Chic podcast and lead The Spiritual Girl Gang Mastermind.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have learned that obstacles are going to occur, you can’t control what life throws at you but you can control how you react. Shit is going to happen. You have to learn to roll with the punches. So to answer that question yes of course there’s been struggles but I don’t let them affect me. I look at the obstacle and think can I fix this, if so ok let’s take care of it and if it’s something out of my control then I let it go, there’s no need in stressing about it if there’s nothing I can do to change it.
Killem With Chic – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Killem With Chic is a brand, blog, podcast and in 2018 we’ll be starting The Spiritual Girl Gang Mastermind group. This will be a space of loving, spiritual and impassioned support. We’ll be helping women redirect their path for a more magical life. We’ll help women take massive shifts in their mindset, confidence and boost in their self-esteem.
We are mostly well known for our clothing line cause that’s what we started off as but have expanded into being known as a business for women empowerment.
I am mostly proud of our mission and message, which is helping women and inspiring them to live a brave and free life. I feel have accomplished that with many women and I only want to impact more and more.
I’d say what sets us apart is that I do it my way. I don’t have a filter. I’m authentic and want other women to know that they can express themselves in that way too.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define it as living in love and freedom. When you create from love, you send love out. You disperse good energy and in my opinion, helps our entire world out. Also, finack ncial freedom and free time. That equals to doing whatever you want whenever you want. We are meant to LIVE our life free not restricted or restrained
